Product Description

Silica gel is a synthetic form of silicon dioxide that is granular, vitreous, and porous. It is created by synthesizing sodium silicate and suspending a nano-porous silica micro-structure within a liquid. When the silica gel is dried, it is referred to as silica xerogel. In practical applications, silica gel and silica xerogel are often used interchangeably. Silica xerogel is known for its toughness and hardness, surpassing common household gels like gelatin or agar in solidity. Derived from a naturally occurring mineral, silica gel is purified and processed into either granular or beaded forms. As a desiccant, it possesses an average pore size of 2.4 nanometers and exhibits a strong affinity for water molecules.
