Orange Indicating Silica Gel is the latest alternative to blue (cobalt chloride) indicating silica gel. In 1998, the European Union determined that Blue Indicating Silica Gel, which is contains cobalt dichloride, a known human toxin, and prohibited its use within European markets. Orange Indicating Silica Gel conforms to the European Union requirements for moisture indicating desiccants. Similar to Blue Silica Gel, Orange Silica gel is used in a variety of industries and applications, such as compressed air dryers, gas drying and transformer breathers.
As with non-indicating silica gel, the material is a refined form of silica which is produced by the reaction of a mineral acid, usually sulphuric, and a sodium silicate solution. The beads are impregnated with a safe organic indicator(methyl-violet it is less than 0.09%) which changes colour as the desiccant becomes saturated. Orange Indicating Silica Gel
is capable of adsorbing up to approximately 30% of its own weight of water from the surrounding atmosphere at 50% RH and 25°C.It maintains the same desiccating performance and physical properties of traditional indicating desiccants and exceeds all relevant national and international standards for adsorption capacity.

Applications
(1) Moisture absorption and rust prevention mainly used for instrumentation equipment in an airtight conditions, at the same time, through its color
changing from blue to red after moisture absorption intuitive indicates the environmental relative humidity;
(2) Used with ordinary silica gel desiccant, indicates the degree of desiccant moisture absorption and judges environment relative humidity;
(3) As packing silica gel desiccant, widely used for precision instrument of leather shoes, clothing and household appliances such as food and drug
administration.
